Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park
Le VENTOULOU Sites et Paysages campsite is located in the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park.
The Causses du Quercy offer a fabulous range of landscapes to discover:
At the bottom of the valleys, the water traces fertile strips of land, while on the causses it disappears and makes way for soil covered with pubescent oaks and dry grassland.
The dry, mineral plateaus of the causses form the Park’s distinctive landscape.
The green and majestic valleys of the Lot and the Dordogne form notches in the calcareous flagstone of the causses, as do the wilder valleys of the Célé and the Vers, the impressive canyons of the Ouysse and the Alzou, and the numerous dry valleys or combes.
Further east, where it meets the Massif Central, this calcareous subsoil changes to calcareous clays and marls, creating the green hedged farmland scenery that is characteristic of the Limargue.
To the south-west, the more open, hilly area of Quercy Blanc alternates between fertile valleys and arid areas called serres, where the limestone shows on the surface.
